What are metal T-posts and safety caps?
The hardware under half the site's fencing. Steel T-posts — studded tee fence posts — are driven to support silt fence, safety fence, chain link, and tree protection, at a standard 0.85-pound-per-foot weight. Safety caps are plastic covers on exposed post tops that prevent impalement injuries — mushroom style or OSHA-approved.
One product carries the fence; the other covers the hazard the fence creates — and both are cheapest when they arrive together.
Caps, sitewide or by the fence-foot
OSHA-approved safety caps can be installed on all T-posts on a site. Terradyne installs extra posts for silt fence repairs. Post work never really ends on an active site — fences take hits, repairs need steel, and every new post top is a new candidate for a cap.
The cap question is really a program question. Some safety plans cap every exposed post as policy; others cap where exposure meets foot traffic. Either way the sequence is the same: the cap goes on when the post goes in, because the retrofit pass that was going to happen later never actually happens.
Installed or materials-only
